Retired English international cricket umpire Dickie Bird's statue is being removed, because revelers keep hanging items on his outstretched finger.

According to The Daily Express, items left hanging off his finger so far include knickers, condoms, bras and Halloween pumpkins.

Sculptor Graham Ibbeson said that everybody who wobbles home after a few sherbets seems to gravitate towards that finger, adding that it is horrible when people abuse Dickie like that.

However, Dickie, 80, who received an MBE and OBE for his services to cricket, laughed it off.

Bird said that it is Barnsley and Yorkshire humour, adding that the main worry is if people fall off, they might injure themselves.
