Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh today broke his seven days long fast which he had started to protest against violation of the rights of the farmers in Guna district of Madhya Pradesh.

Singh criticised Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as a party of pimps and traders.

"BJP talked about bringing good days to India but failed to do so. Good days came only for two people .i.e. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah, nobody else. BJP only needs pimps and traders and people like Amit Shah in its party not the honest ones," said Singh while addressing his supporters.

Singh had begun his weeklong hunger strike in Guna on July 7 during which he had consumed only watermelon, glucose and water to protest against the Madhya Pradesh government for not fulfilling the demands of the farmers.

Earlier, he had highlighted some of the demands of the farmers to the media that needed to be met by the state government, such as compensation for farmers whose houses were destroyed last year in floods, provision of soyabean seeds for the ones who suffered a loss, deposit of farmer's insurance money in their account, provision of pesticides through the marketing society and mandi.
