Bulgaria's Grigor Dimitrov defeated Andy Murray in straight sets in the quarter-finals match held here today thus ending the Briton's Wimbledon title defence.
Dimitrov, 23, who won the match 6-1 7-6 (7-4) 6-2 in two hours and one minute and reach his first Grand Slam semi-final.
Murray had been on a 17-match winning streak at Wimbledon and was looking to reach his sixth consecutive semi-final. It is the first time since 2008 that he has failed to make the last four.
Dimitrov, seeded 11th, pocketed the first set 6-1 in just 25 minutes. The Bulgarian soon with his big serve, variety of shot and athletic defence won the tiebreak 7-4 to take the second set against Murray. The 23 year old continued with his stellar show as he romped home winning the third set 6-2.
