Dipa Karmakar an inspiration to Bandhan bank, says founder CS Ghosh

Bandhan, the youngest bank, which in its second year of journey, has been highly inspired by gymnast Dipa Karmakar's performance, who without much facility managed to make a mark in the world of gymnastics at the recently concluded Rio Olympics, said a top official of the bank.

Chandra Sekhar Ghosh, founder, managing director and chief executive officer, Bandhan bank yesterday felicitated Dipa, the first Indian woman gymnast, who took part in the Olympics and missed a medal by whisker.

He said, "Dipa's story is very inspiring. So, we would like to learn from her how we can create vision in children's life to reach to a position. At every level, we could learn from her, I honour her."

 

Earlier, Ghosh also felicitated Dipa's coach Bishweshwar Nandi in presence of Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Prafullajit Sinha during a programme in a hotel here.

Ghosh, originally from Bishalgarh of Sepahijala district of Tripura, also handed over a check of Rs. five lakh to Dipa with the hope that she will bring a medal for India from the next Olympics in Japan.

Dipa, who vaulted into limelight with her death defying leap, had created history when she became the first Indian gymnast to enter the final on her debut at the quadrennial multi-discipline games after finishing eighth in the qualifying round.
