Pakistani High Commissioner in New Delhi, Abdul Basit on Wednesday stated that India should have taken some time to reflect on the initiative by Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif as diplomacy conducted 'post haste has its own hazards.'

"Our Prime Minister in his recent address to the UNGA session proposed four point formula, with a view to stabilize bilateral environment so that the two countries are able to enter into a dialogue process. I think that it would have been better if India had taken some time to reflect on our Prime Minister's initiative and then responded," Basit said while speaking at the book launch of Khurshid Mahmood Kasuri, the Ex-foreign minister of Pakistan.

"It would have been better if India had taken some time to reflect on the initiative because diplomacy conducted post haste has its own hazards," he added.

Basit further said it is ironic and unfortunate that still after so many years, India and Pakistan are grappling with the question of how to break the ice and to how to stitch up a process that leads to tangible results.
