French world number nine Richard Gasquet has said that it was his Italian coach Riccardo Piatti who had decided to call time on their partnership and not him.
According to Sport24, Gasquet, whose ATP World Tour Finals campaign came to an end with a 7-6 (7/5), 4-6, 6-3 defeat against Novak Djokovic on Saturday, said it was not his decision to call time on their two-year link-up.
Gasquet said that he was surprised as it was not him who decided, adding that he is disappointed because things were going well between them.
Piatti had been present in London, where Gasquet lost to Djokovic, Roger Federer and Juan Martin del Potro, until Friday, the report said.
