The Disney Channel is in the early stages of development of the remake of 1993 Halloween film 'Hocus Pocus' into a TV movie.
The new project is being written by Scarlett Lacey, with David Kirschner, producer of the original movie, on board to executive produce, reports Deadline.
The 1993 film written by Neil Cuthbert and Mick Garris was based on a story by Garris and Kirschner.
It was originally directed by Kenny Ortega, who's known for Disney Channel's two biggest TV movie franchises, High School Musical and Descendants.
However, the new 'Hocus Pocus' remake will have a new cast and a new director.
The original Disney film starred Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy and Sarah Jessica Parker who played three villainous witches.
The film has become a cult hit, largely from annual airings on Disney Channel and Freeform.
