Charles Dickens' novel 'Oliver Twist' is about to get a modern makeover as recent reports suggest that Disney, Thomas Kail and American singer and filmmaker Ice Cube are teaming up for yet another adaptation.
Disney is joining forces with Ice Cube and 'In the Heights and Hamilton' director Thomas Kail to recreate the work based on the famous book as a musical with a twist, reports E! Online.
Crossing many genres including hip-hop, the new 'Oliver Twist' will reportedly see Cube playing Fagin, the Jew who is described as a 'receiver of stolen goods' from the orphaned children in the story.
This is not the first time the American studio has taken the character of the orphaned boy for inspirational adaptations.
Back in 1988, Disney already dabbled with Oliver Twist by giving it the animated treatment and releasing Oliver and Company. It also gave the audience the stage musical 'Oliver'.
