Disturbing trend of raping girls exhumed from graves surfaces in Pakistan

Pakistan Police suspects that the girl's body found lying outside the grave in Qila Didar Singh, Gujranwala of Pakistan was assaulted sexually.

Express News reports that 15-year-old Zainab, daughter of Muhammad Munir, died of electrocution a day before and was buried by the family on Tuesday.

According to the report, local residents found her body lying outside the grave early Wednesday morning and informed the family and the police about the incident.

The police suspected the body was taken out from the grave with the intention of rape.

They said the extent of damage done to the body will be confirmed once the investigation is complete and the criminals involved would be punished accordingly.

 

Chief Minister Punjab, Shahbaz Sharif, took notice of the incident, ordering an immediate investigation.

Qila Didar Singh Police has arrested a suspect and started inquiries.

This is not the first time such necrophilia cases have surfaced in Pakistan. There have been several instances earlier wherein women bodies have been exhumed and desecrated.
