Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MP from Anantapur J.C. Diwakar Reddy announced his resignation from the Parliament on Thursday, having failed to deliver on his promises.

He made the announcement at a press conference in Anantapur and said as he has failed to do justice to the district as MP, therefore has decided to resign.

"I am unable to do justice to the people who believed me and voted for me. So I am resigning," he said.

The Anantapur MP said he has failed as a responsible public representative in resolving the sanitation problem and the road-widening issue at his constituency.

Reddy said that he failed to deliver on his promise to bring drinking water to all and irrigation water to the Chagallu reservoir.

He said he would submit his resignation to the Lok Sabha Speaker on September 25 or 26, adding that he was only quitting his "post" and not from politics.

Reddy also alleged that "some people" were hindering development in the district.
