The Delhi Jal Board (DJB) has commissioned a 50 KW Solar PV Power Plant at its Varunalaya Office Complex in order to cut down on its operations and maintenance costs and to focus on harnessing the potential of the renewable energy.

A release by the DJB stated that the solar power plant is presently generating 6600 units of electricity per month and is leading to an immediate saving of Rs. 55,000 per month.

"DJB has made innovative use of space by installing the solar panels on the rooftop of the Underground Reservoir. DJB is striving hard to look at non-conventional sources of energy which will reduce DJB's power bill, the biggest expenditure for the utility and will also help in environment conservation," Delhi Jal Board CEO S.S. Yadav said.
