World number one Novak Djokovic won his 50th career ATP win as he overcame resilient Roger Federer in three sets to defend Indian Wells title on Sunday.

Djokovic grabbed his fourth title at the venue after trouncing the Swiss maestro 6-3, 6-7(5), 6-2 in the final of the BNP Paribas Open, Stuff.co.nz reported.

Following a comprehensive first-set win, Djokovic gave up two double-faults at 5-4 in the tiebreak, which allowed Federer to force a third set.

Subsequently, the Serbian cruised to victory after Federer held serve for a 2-all tie in the third set.
