Djokovic, Murray to face each other in high-octane ATP Tour Finals summit clash

One can expect a high-voltage game in the finals of the ATP Tour Finals as both Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic will have a thing to prove when they face each other in the high-octane summit showdown here on Sunday.

It will be their 35th encounter, with the World No. 2 owning a 24-10 advantage.

The Serbian, a five-time champion at the season finale, is eyeing to extend his reign atop the year-end Emirates ATP Rankings with a third straight No. 1 finish and fifth overall.

Murray, meanwhile, will look to extend his stay at No. 1 after assuming the mantle two weeks ago at the BNP Paribas Masters.

 

The Briton entered the summit clash after a gruelling semi-final contest against beating Milos Raonic 5-7, 7-6 (7-5) 7-6 (11-9) in a contest that lasted for three hours and 38 minutes.

On the other hand, Djokovic was ruthless in extending his FedEx ATP Head2Head to 11-2 against Japan's Kei Nishikori.

Djokovic swept past fifth seed Nishikori 6-1, 6-1 in his last four encounter that lasted for just one hour and six minutes.

The Serbian has taken three of their four meetings this year, in the finals of the Australian Open, Roland Garros and ATP World Tour Masters 1000 event in Madrid. Murray notched a straight-set win in the Rome title match.
