World number one Novak Djokovic has admitted that there is a new wave of emerging players who are capable of challenging the established elite and compete for the major titles.
Djokovic, who withdrew from Abu Dhabi finale on account of a fever, said that there was a new wave of players able to compete for the major titles, adding that a wider and larger group of players were able to get to the top, Sport24 reported.
He further said that (Marin) Cilic, (Stan) Wawrinka, (Kei) Nishikori, (Milos) Raonic and (Grigor) Dimitrov could challenge and win against the best players in biggest tournaments, the report added.
However, the Serbian still believes that long-standing rivals, particularly Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer would remain major threats.
