Djokovic secures year-end No 1 ranking with straight-set win over Berdych in World Tour clash

World number one Novak Djokovic swept past Tomas Berdych in straight sets 6-2, 6-2 in the ATP World Tour Finals to enter the semis and secure the year-end number one ranking.

Djokovic has been on an unbeaten streak at the indoors with being victorious in 30 matches since 2012. Emerging as the top player of Group A with consecutive wins, Djokovic will now play against Kei Nishikori in the semi-finals. Whereas, Australian Open champion Stanislas Wawrinka triumphed against Marin Cilic in three sets 6-3 4-6 6-3 to set up a contest against compatriot Roger Federer, the BBC reported.

Djokovic said that it was definitely one of his best performances, and an incredible achievement to have ended the year as number one.

 

Commenting on the upcoming contest against Federer, Wawrinka said that he understands it would be a tough fight, and hopes to get a little bit of support as he knew people love Federer here.
