Accusing Bernard Tomic of failing to be committed to the sport, world number one Novak Djokovic has called on the controversial Australian tennis star to take his profession more seriously.
Tomic attracted a torrent of criticism when he gave up on the last point of his first-round match against Italian Fabio Fognini by holding his racquet the wrong way round at the Madrid Masters on Tuesday.
He aggravated the situation with his outspoken comments claiming he didn't care about losing the point given the wealth he had earned already in his short career.
Reflecting on the incident, Djokovic said he hoped the Australian would realise soon that what he had done was wrong while pointing out that Tomic could be a better-ranked player if he keeps his emotions under control, news.com.au reported.
Djokovic has been a regular practice partner for Tomic.
