World number one Novak Djokovic beat America's Sam Querrey in straight sets on Saturday to advance to the fourth round of the US Open.
Djokovic won 6-3, 6-2, 6-2 and will next face Germany's Philipp Kohlschreiber. The German beat the last American remaining in the men's draw, John Isner, 7-6 (7-4), 4-6, 7-6 (7-2), 7-6 (7-4). It was the third time in a row that Kohlschreiber knocked Isner out of the US Open.
Australian Open champion Stanislas Wawrinka reached the US Open fourth round by walkover when Slovenian Blaz Kavcic withdrew from their third-round match with a right foot injury, The BBC reported.
Djokovic said that his game is peaking at the right time, at the right tournament. He added that this is where he wants to play his best tennis.
The Serb said that he has not done well as he wanted in lead-up tournaments, Toronto and Cincinnati, and added that he was obviously emotionally not ready for those tournaments.
But, Djokovic said that the upside of him losing early in Cincinnati is that he had more time to prepare for the US Open, the last Grand Slam of the year.
