IAS officer D.K. Ravi's father-in-law, H. Hanumantharayappa, on Saturday thanked Congress president Sonia Gandhi for instructing Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to handover the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Hanumantharayappa also rubbished speculations of a possible dispute between him and the family members of the late IAS officer.
"There is no personal problem between his family and my family. Also, I would like to congratulate Sonia Gandhi for instructing Karnataka chief minister to handover the case to CBI. It should have been done so earlier," said Hanumantharayappa.
Earlier on Friday, Hanumantharayappa said that there might have been a personal angle to Ravi's suicide, and added that the issue could have been addressed had the family known about this.
Siddaramaiah is believed to have decided to refer the IAS officer's death probe to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
The Chief Minister, is expected to announce that the CBI would be entrusted the probe into the IAS officer's death on the floor of the state assembly on Monday, as advised by the Congress president.
Ravi, who was an Additional Commissioner on deputation with the Commercial Tax department, was found hanging from a ceiling fan in his house last Monday.
His death has resulted in widespread protests all over Karnataka, with political parties, predominantly the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), calling for a CBI investigation into the matter.
