The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) on Tuesday cancelled its protest scheduled for November 8, marking the anniversary of Demonetisation in eight districts of Tamil Nadu in wake of water logging and heavy rains.
Surprisingly, this decision came a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi met ailing DMK president M. Karunanidhi at his residence here.
Meanwhile, DMK ally Congress is all set to observe November 8 as a 'black day', whereas the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will observe the day as 'Anti-Black Money Day' across the country.
On November 8, 2016, the Centre declared Rs. 500 and Rs. 1000 notes as non-legal and introduced new Rs. 500 and Rs. 2000 notes.
