The no confidence motion moved by the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) against Speaker P. Dhanapal got defeated by voice vote in the Tamil Nadu Assembly today.
A delegation led by DMK president M.K. Stalin yesterday met Tamil Nadu Legislative Secretary AMP Jamaludeen and submitted the letter for the no-confidence motion.
Stalin has been alleging that Dhanapal "acted with ulterior motive" during the trust vote sought by Chief Minister Edappadi K Palanisami on the floor of the Tamil Nadu Assembly last Saturday.
However, Dhanpal in his defence asserted that he was mistreated because he belonged to the Scheduled Caste.
