Dolce and Gabbana founders Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana have responded to backlash after their "synthetic" babies remarks were condemned by Elton John.

Dolce said in a statement in The Guardian that while his own family was "traditional", that did not imply that he did not understand different ones.

He continued that he was he was talking about his personal view, without judging other people's choices and decisions.

Gabbana said in his statement that it was never their intention to judge other people's choices and they did believe in freedom and love.

Dolce and Gabbana founders had called children born through IVF "synthetic" in a magazine interview.

John, who shares two sons born to a surrogate with husband David Furnish, had said that their archaic thinking was out of step with the times, just like the duo's fashion and added that he will boycott the luxury designer label.
