A new documentary has revealed that dolphins, like humans, also deliberately 'gets high'.
The BBC's 'Dolphins: Spy in the Pod' used cameras strapped to submersibles and surprisingly found that a group of young dolphins were getting high' on a puffer fish's toxins, Metro.co.uk reported.
The toxin, in large doses, is capable of killing, but in small doses it acts as a narcotic.
Zoologist Rob Pilley, who worked on the series, told the Sunday Times that young dolphins were deliberately experimenting with something they know to be intoxicating.
He said that after chewing the puffer gently and passing it round, the dolphins acted in a peculiar way, hanging around with their noses at the surface as if they had become fascinated by their own reflection.
