A double bomb attack rocked Pakistan's capital city Islamabad, killing one security guard and wounding another, the Pakistani police said.

According to the Dawn, the first blast occurred around 2:00 am (2100 GMT) in an upmarket shopping area close to the city centre.

Chaudhry Hafiz Hussain, a senior police official said that while one of the watchmen succumbed to his injuries in the hospital following the bomb attack, the second watchman was being given medical treatment.

He said that it was not yet clear if the blast was carried out by suicide bombers.

Meanwhile, it is reported that the second bomb was planted in a car.

Mohammad Ali, another police official, told reporters that the low-intensity explosive was planted in a car, adding that the blast has badly damaged the car but no one was hurt.

None of the groups have so far claimed responsibility for the attack, but the blasts came after three days of air strikes by the Pakistani military against militant hideouts that have killed at least 75 people, the report added.
