Chelsea striker Didier Drogba has announced that he is retiring from international football, which implies that the forward will not play again for Ivory Coast after scoring 61 goals in 103 appearances for his country.
Drogba said that it is with much sadness that he has decided to retire from international football.
Drogba said that he is very proud to have been captain of the Ivory Coast team for eight years and to have contributed to placing my country on the world stage of football, The Daily Star reported.
The Chelsea star has played in three World Cups during his 12-year international career and has also helped the Ivory Coast twice finish runner-up at the African Nations Cup.
Drogba's decision came just days after Frenchman Herve Renard was appointed as Ivory Coast's new coach, the report added.
