The Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) president, Manjit Singh G.K., on Tuesday condemned the reports of a young Sikh boy in the U.S. been racially abused by a group of school children.

The incident came to light after a video went viral on the Internet.

"In America, there was an incidence of a child being called Afghan or Arab and abused by the fellow classmates in the school bus. We totally negate this incident and we condemn it. The National Sikh Campaign headed by Dr. Rajwant Singh, in Washington, has hired a firm which campaigned so that the misconception about the Sikhs can be removed and Americans must be made aware of the Sikh religion," Manjit Singh told ANI.

Singh also said, as per the survey by the Hart Research Associates, 60 percent of Americans doesn't know who Sikhs are, 48 percent of Americans think Sikhs are Arabs or Afghans.

"The Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) has also put its funds into this new firm which is hired by Dr. Rajwant Singh. This is the firm that campaigned for Barack Obama and their short form is AKPD, so that the identity crises must be removed. There were many incidents of attacks and murders in America of Sikhs, for mistaken identity," he added.

Singh further appealed to the Government of India to hold talks with the American Government over awareness about Sikhs.

"So, we are doing our beast and we also appeal to the Government of India that they must talk to the American Government. The awareness about the Sikhs must be made clear to the American masses," he added.

According to reports, a young Sikh boy in the United States' Georgia has been called a 'terrorist' by a group of school children.

In the video posted, the bespectacled Sikh boy is seen sitting in what appears to be a school bus. Surrounded by students he whispers to the camera: "The kids are being racist to me."

Then, a young girl sitting behind him shouts "terrorist! terrorist!" and points her finger at the boy. He shouts "who cares".
