South Africa claimed a comfortable 52-run win over hosts Bangladesh on Sunday in the first T20 of the two-match series at Dhaka, thanks to Faf du Plessis' brisk half-ton and some disciplined bowling.
Opting to bat first, South Africa struggled to accelerate the run-flow as they were restricted to 148 in their allotted 20 overs on a dry surface.
South Africa failed to get a promising start after the early dismissal of AB de Villiers (2) and Quinton De Kock (12) and saw pressure mount on the tourists following the quick dismissal of JP Duminy (18) and David Miller (1).
Du Plessis (79) and Rilee Rossouw (31) remained unbeaten as they steadied the ship though at a slow pace to help their side post a modest 149-run target.
In reply, Bangladesh stuttered from the start of their innings as they wilted against a disciplined bowling attack, who adjusted their tactics to suit conditions.
Shakib Al Hasan (26) remained the top scorer for the hosts, while Litton Das and Mushfiqur Rahim were removed for their respective scores of 22 and 17.
