Despite a comprehensive 2-0 win in the T20 series, South African star all-rounder JP Duminy believes that India will bounce back strongly in the upcoming ODI series.
"It is going to be a hard fought ODI series leading into the Test series," Duminy told reporters after the third and final T20 match was washed out yesterday at the Eden Garden. "As a team, we definitely expect them to put in a big performance in the two series. We know that they are a great ODI team so it is important for us to start off well in the ODI series. Yes, it was important for us to start well but we are under no illusion that it is going to be a walkover in the ODI series."
The swashbuckling batsman insisted that his side would have to fight hard and take it one game at a time in order to sustain the momentum during their 72-day long tour, where they will also play four Tests.
Duminy also said that the T20 series win over the hosts had boosted their confidence, which would be helpful for the upcoming series and the 2016 World cup.
"That is going to be a big tick for us in the T20 format. With the results that we have got here now, will give us a lot of confidence going into the T20 series against England and Australia and obviously the World cup coming in a few months."
The first ODI will be played in Kanpur on Sunday.
