Irish amateur Paul Dunne, who stunned the golfing world by jointly leading The Open Championship in the belated third round at St Andrews, has insisted that he is capable of winning the tournament despite being labeled as underdog.

The 22-year-old, who is sharing the lead with former winner Louis Oosthuizen and Australia's Jason Day, posted a six-under-par 66 for 12 overall and has made a sparkling entry into the golfing arena.

Dunne, who is an undergraduate from Alabama, said that he is well capable of shooting the score that he needs to win, the BBC reported.

Dunne also said that he is not thinking about winning or what is going to happen on the final day, but would just focus on giving his best and scoring the best shots he could.

The tournament has been extended to Monday after losing considerable amount of time on the second day due to weather delays at the Old Course.
