American golfer Dustin Johnson continues to lead The Open Championship after carding a three-under-par 69 for 10 under overall in the weather-disrupted second round at St Andrews.

The tournament has been extended to Monday after losing considerable amount of time on the second day due to weather delays at the Old Course.

Johnson maintains a one-stroke lead ahead of club house leader Danny Willett of England (69) and two clear of Scotland's 1999 champion Paul Lawrie (70).

Reigning Masters and US Open champion Jordan Spieth posted a 72 and is five under.

Meanwhile, former world number one Tiger Woods missed two back-to-back cuts at major tournaments for the first time in his career and carded a 75 for seven over, the BBC reported.

This is the second time in the tournament's 155-year history since 1988 that play has been pushed to Monday.
