Members of a Dutch motorcycle gang known as "No Surrender" have joined Kurdish forces fighting against the Islamic State in Iraq.

According to FOX News, the leader of the gang, Klaas Otto, told state broadcaster NOS on Friday that three of its members have traveled to Mosul in Northern Iraq to take up the fight against IS.

A photo on a Dutch-Kurdish Twitter account showed a heavily-tattooed man dressed in military gear sitting next to a Kurdish fighter inside a bunker.

The caption with the photo read "Ron from The Netherlands has joined the Kurds to exterminate the rodents of IS".

Meanwhile, a Kurdish official has said that the Islamic State (IS) militants are finally retreating from the Syrian town of Kobane following weeks of fighting.

Idriss Nassan said that the IS had lost control of more than 20 percent of the town in recent days, reported the BBC.

United States defence officials have claimed that hundreds of militants have been killed around Kobane as the coalition against IS intensified its air strikes in the town that is located on the Syrian-Turkish border.

The news came as U.S. President Barack Obama and other European leaders agreed to do more to halt the group's advance in Iraq and Syria.
