The Election Commission (EC) on Tuesday issued a notice to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal, censuring him for the violation of the Model Code of Conduct and asking him to be more circumspect in his future public utterances.

"Whereas, the Commission has taken serious note of the fact that you have been indulging in the violations of the Model Code of Conduct repeatedly despite the repeated Notices to you and also the advice given to you by the Commission vide its Order No. 437lDL-LAl2Ol5 dated 23rd January, 2015 that you should be more circumspect in your public utterances in future while expressing its displeasure and censuring you for the violation of the Model Code of Conduct," said the notice.

The notice also warned of stern action against the former Delhi chief minister in case of any future violations.

"You are, hereby, warned that the Commission shall be constrained to take stern action against you in the event of any further violation," it added.

Kejriwal, while addressing various rallies in the national capital last week, had suggested that the people of Delhi accept bribes from other political parties, but cast their votes for him.

"People from both parties will come to offer money, do not refuse, take it..... If no one comes forward to give you money, go to their offices and ask them to give it to you in their office..... Accept the money from both, but vote only for the broom," he said.

His remarks led to complaints and condemnation from both Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress leaders.
