Eden Gardens' ex-curator Prabir Mukherjee passes away

Former chief curator of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) Prabir Mukherjee has recently passed away at his home.

Mukherjee, 86, who served as a curator in Eden Gardens for over two decades, started involving with cricket administration and pitch preparation in 1951-52, four years after an accident ended his playing days as a fast bowler and a football goalkeeper, ESPNcricinfo reported.

Mukherjee's first stint as a curator in the Eden Gardens came in 1964 following his appointment as the secretary of the Bengal National Railways Club.

Mukherjee, who had prepared the pitch for the 1987 World Cup final and the ICC Knockout Trophy in 1998 in Dhaka, worked last at Eden Gardens till the India's Twenty20 series against South Africa in October last year.
