West Bengal Governor KN Tripathi on Sunday said that all efforts were on to cease the violence that has crept up between different political factions in the state.
"West Bengal has always been the land of struggles. Bengal was also one of the areas where the fight for Independence was among the strongest. But if struggle transforms into violence, then it is not good, and all efforts are on to stem the violence in the state, especially all political violence," Tripathi told ANI, while attending a function here.
West Bengal has recently seen a spate of violence, with supporters of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) clashing with the workers of the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in two separate incidents on Saturday.
In the first incident, which took place in the Murshidabad region of the state, TMC and Congress supporters clashed over the possession of a party office in the district, which reportedly resulted in the injury of three people.
The second incident, which took place in the Birbhum region, saw TMC and BJP supporters allegedly hurl crude bombs at each other after clashing.
