EHF student gets Google Science Fair Award for 2014

A Panipat teenager, Arsh Shah Dilbagi, who participated in the Eduheal foundation olympiads [EHF] recently, has been given the Google Science Fair Award for 2014.

He was honoured with the 'Google Voters Choice Award' through online voting in San Francisco for developing a machine "TALK" for helping people with developmental disabilities communicate using only their breath.

Arsh won a spot as one of the Google's 15 Global Science Fair finalists for his project on helping people with developmental disabilities such as locked in syndrome, Parkinson's or ALS communicate using only their breath.

Arsh was awarded a USD 10,000 cash prize, a Google Chrome notebook, lego mindstorms EV3 kit, Google goody bag, Google tracksuit and a Google wristwatch.

 

A Class XII student of DAV International School, Thermal Colony, Arsh was first selected among the top 90 regional finalists of the Google Science Fair 2014 for his latest invention TALK An AAC device.

This was followed by interview rounds through Google Hangouts. Thereafter, he was selected one of the top 15 global finalists of the Google Science fair.-2014. He was the only student from Asia to be selected for award.

TALK is an augmentative and assistive communication (AAC) device, which helps people with developmental disabilities and speech impairments communicate. It is affordable ultra-portable, super light and increases the speaking rate by the least 300 per cent as compared to the existing AAC device.

Arsh wants to pursue robotics/computer science engineering from the USA or Australia.

The Eduheal Foundation (EHF) is a registered international level NGO. As educational partners of the Google Science Fair and as a member of Havard-MIT Maths tournament , the EHF is actively engaged in searching talented students in science, mathematics, English, bio technology, arts, computer and sports.
