Eighth phase LS polls comes to an end with moderate-to-heavy turnout

Moderate to heavy turnout of votes has been recorded as the eighth phase of elections covering 64 Lok Sabha constituencies spread over seven states and 175 assembly constituencies in the Seemandhra region came to an end.

"West Bengal once again led the pack of high voter turnout as its poll percentage notched up 81.28 percent where six Lok Sabha constituencies went to polls today. While Andhra Pradesh recorded a poll percentage of 76.01 percent.

Himachal Pradesh recorded a poll percentage of 65 percent where four of its Lok Sabha seats went to polls today.

The states of Uttarakhand and Jammu and Kashmir on the other hand registered a poll percentage of 62 percent and 49.98 percent respectively according to last reports as said by Vinod Zutshi, Deputy Election Commissioner.

 

Poll percentage in Bihar was recorded at 58 percent as stated by Alok Shukla, Deputy EC.

Uttar Pradesh which had 15 seats out of 80 in the hustings today saw a poll percentage of 55.52 percent. Amethi recorded a poll percentage of 54.24 percent which will decide the fate of Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi who is locked in a battle between BJP candidate Smriti Irani and Aam Aadmi Party candidate, Kumar Vishwas.
