Election Commission bans exit polls in Jharkhand, J-K

The Election Commission has banned exit polls of any kind in poll-bound Jharkhand and Jammu and Kashmir.

"The publication and dissemination of exit polls of any kind in Jharkhand and Jammu and Kashmir have been banned," Chief Election Commissioner of Jharkhand P K Jajoria, said while quoting a statement of Election Commission of India here today.

The ban on exit polls comes even as brisk polling is being reported in both states. At the time of the filing of this report, Jharkhand had recorded an over 48 percent voter turnout, while moderate polling was reported from Jammu and Kashmir.
