Chief Election Commissioner VS Sampath on Thursday stated the poll organisation was not afraid of any political parties or entities in discharging its duties.
"Request leaders to use proper discourse while referring to constitutional body like EC," Sampath said at a press conference countering on the issue of allegations of bias leveled against the poll body.
"Competent local authorities, for security reasons were unable to give permission for public meeting(Modi's) in Beniyabagh. Where security issues are involved, EC goes by expertise conveyed by local administration. Political parties must understand, issues relating to permission for campaign purposes should be asked for with due notice," Sampath emphasized while drawing attention in an apparent reference to district administration in Varanasi denying Modi permission for holding one of the two rallies here on Thursday.
"We have asked for factual report, when its received further action will be taken," VS Sampath, CEC said while referring on Rahul Gandhi visiting EVM enclosure.
