The election for the post of Nepali Congress Parliamentary Party (PP) leader began here today.
Nepali Congress president Sher Bahadur Deuba and senior leader Ram Chandra Paudel, who are in the fray for the Parliamentary Party leader's post, filed their nominations yesterday.
The position of PP leader of the main opposition and the largest party in Parliament has been lying vacant since the demise of the then party president and PP leader Sushil Koirala on February 9.
Lawmaker Farmullah Mansur had proposed Deuba's name and Padma Narayan Chaudhary had seconded his candidature.
Paudel was defeated by Deuba in the party presidential election held during the 13th National General Convention in March.
