Ellen DeGeneres has surprised terminally ill Quincy Jones with his very own HBO special gig.

Ellen gave Jones the big news during her show on March 21, when Shutterfly also handed over a 15,000 dollar cheque to help him produce it, reports Us Magazine.

The 83-year-old entertainer, who was diagnosed with stage IV mesothelioma in July 2015, not so surprisingly freaked out, saying, "You're lying. Are you serious?"

HBO later issued a press release which announced that Jones' special will be taped at the Teragram Ballroom in L.A. on April 4 and debuted this spring.

Originally from Seattle, the 32-year-old Jones moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in comedy. At the time of his cancer diagnosis in July 2015, he was doing an estimated 1,000 sets per year. Jones continues to perform today, despite ongoing chemotherapy.
