Elvis Presley's record player has been sold at an auction to a German bidder for more than double its expected price.

The 'Perpetuum Ebner Musical 5v Luxus' model, which was given as a wedding present item by 'the King of Rock and Roll' to pal Ellen Marschhauser and her husband Jim Jenkins in 1959, was expected to fetch 3,000 dollars at the Penzance Auction House.

The record player was once used by Presley as a guitar amplifier in his hotel room.
