Emilio Sanchez, who runs the academy in Barcelona where Andy Murray spent his formative years, has revealed that the Scot had to be taken out of his room and made to train.
According to The Independent, although a voracious appetite for hard work had taken Andy Murray to the top, Sanchez said that it was tough at the start and the Scot had to be pushed because he was not moving as well as they would like.
The report said that Murray joined the academy when he was 15 and made friends with Dani Vallverdu, who is now a key member of his entourage.
Murray also had a conversation with Rafael Nadal once when the boys met at the European Under-16 Team Championships in Andorra.
