The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday defended the ink attack on Jammu and Kashmir MLA Engineer Rashid by the Vishnu Gupta-led Hindu Sena at the Press Club of India in New Delhi, saying that he was a victim of his own doing.
"India is a democratic country where anyone can do anything. If Engineer Rashid can a give beef party, then he should also realise that anything can happen with him also," BJP MLA Gagan Bhagat told ANI.
"The incident is not right. However, Engineer Rashid is a victim of his own doing," he added.
The ink attack took place when Engineer Rashid had called a press conference in the national capital.
The Hindu Sena has claimed responsibility for the attack alleging that Rashid has insulted cow, which is considered sacred to Hindus.
Rashid was recently beaten up by BJP MLAs inside the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly for allegedly hosting a beef party at the MLA hotel.
