England boss Roy Hodgson has been caught up in a row over a space monkey joke and England World Cup hero Andros Townsend.

Hodgson is believed to be upset over reaction to his joke that was aimed to stress passing to the winger against Poland.

According to Mirror, the joke was intended to illustrate the idea that Hodgson wanted right-back Chris Smalling to play the ball more often to Townsend, who was terrorising the Polish defence.

However, one player was apparently shocked over the comment, believed to have racist connotations.

Hodgson apologized for his remarks and said that he had no intention to say anything inappropriate and he made it clear to Townsend in the dressing room.

The report added that Townsend and his father, Troy, who works for the anti-racist Kick It Out organization, are not believed to have been angered by the remarks, however, Hodgson is upset about the issue arising out of misunderstanding.
