England skipper Alastair Cook is confident that his team can beat Australia in the upcoming Ashes test series.
Cook's statement came after his side lost the second and final test of the bilateral series against New Zealand by 199 runs.
The BBC reported Cook as saying that England is very comfortable on home turf but acknowledging that his side needs to take a step forward to beat their rivals. He also expressed hope that Ian Bell and Gary Ballance would find their form with the bat, while off-spinner Moeen Ali regains his rhythm.
England has not lost a home series against Australia since 2001 but were hammered 5-0 in the 2013-14 Ashes.
