England and Sri Lanka have drawn their first Test at The Lord's cricket ground, with the visitors last-wicket batting pair keeping the final five balls of the match away from the stumps.

Umpire Paul Reiffel had given Nuwan Pradeep out lbw, but Sri Lanka opted for the decision review system which revealed an inside edge, leading to a reversal of the original decision.

According to the BBC, both teams would now head into the second and final Test at Headingley, starting on Friday, with the series still square.

The match appeared to be drifting towards a stalemate when Sri Lanka were 164-3 at tea, while chasing 390 for victory against England.

However, England claimed six wickets for 37 runs in fading light. Right arm fast bowler James Anderson finished with figures of 4-25 off 19 overs, while Stuart Broad claimed 3-43 and Chris Jordan 2-34 on debut.

The final score at the end of the match were as follows:

England (575-9 declared and 267-8 declared) drew with Sri Lanka (453 and 201-9).
