The England cricket management is unconcerned about captain Alastair Cook's future despite his missing training in Perth with a stiff back, blaming it on the long flight over from the UK.
According to the Mirror, however, the sight of such an important player sitting out the squad's first middle practice of the tour and instead receiving treatment from the physio cannot have been ideal.
Cook has already practised on the tour, netting on both Sunday and Monday, as well as taking part in fielding drills at the WACA, the report said.
At Floreat Oval, Cook spent his time jogging and stretching with the medical staff to raise concerns over a back that has flared up before, although it has yet to cost him a Test match, the report added.
Stuart Broad also received treatment during the session, mainly in the form of manipulation of his back and side, but both are said to be minor niggles at this stage, the report further said.
England batsman Ian Bell said that he was sure Cook would be fine, adding that he has had the old niggle with the back, and that everyone has certain areas that they have to keep working on.
