Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has said that the FA must learn lessons from recent failures to ensure that the next Golden Generation is not wasted, and fears that it may take ten years before England sees any improvement.

According to the Mirror, Ferdinand was part of England's best group of players for years but they fell short at major tournaments, which is one of the biggest regrets of his career.

The defender said that the FA needs to look at the coaching properly and hopefully, in the next five or ten years, there would be benefits.

The 34-year-old is looking forward to his testimonial against Sevilla on Friday and confessed to Manchester United being the love of his life recently.
