England's chief medical officer, Prof Dame Sally Davies has confessed to trying out hash cookies at her university.
The 63-year-old told BBC Radio 3's Private Passions that drug addiction is a medical problem, and then it becomes a public health problem.
She said that the society is choosing to treat that as a criminal justice issue.
Davies said that during her university days in the early 1970s, she never smoked, so she couldn't try joints, but she did have some cookies, the BBC reported.
She said that one day she had hallucinations and she's never touched it since.

Davies said that she understood through that what her father said to her when she told him she was going to try it.
She said that her father told her that 'drugs decivilise a person and the person stops being civilised.'
Davies said that she understood why so many people were against even the soft drugs.
