English league system's sixth highest tier of football Conference South's side Basingstoke Town has reportedly made an ambitious bid to sign Brazilian star footballer Ronaldinho.

The former Barcelona and AC Milan playmaker is a free agent after leaving Brazilian side Atletico Mineiro and Basingstoke, third in the sixth tier of English football, have put an offer to his brother agent Roberto de Assis Moreira, The Mirror reported.

Basingstoke's marketing director Simon Hood said that they have put an offer to Ronaldinho's brother, who is his agent, and are looking forward to hearing back from him.

Hood said that they took a look at the transfer list to see which players were available, and added that they were shocked to see that Ronaldinho was a free agent and thought what better way for him to get back into football than to play for Basingstoke.

He added that they are third in the table and it would be great for not only Basingstoke but also non-league football.
