The people, who cast their votes today in the fourth phase of assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, said that they were voting for a good government and development in the state.
"You can see a lot of energy in the people voting. Everyone wants a good government and that is the reason the youth is motivated to vote. I also got up early in the morning to vote," said Divya Sharma, a young voter in Jammu.
Another voter from Srinagar, Gul Mohammad, expressing similar thoughts said that they are desperate for development in the region after the recent floods.
"The floods that had hit Srinagar city had destroyed everything. So, the development of the city is important. We want a leader who can bring development to the city and the entire state," he said.
The polling, which began at 8 a.m. on a dull note due to chilly weather conditions and fog in the morning, has started picking up in 16 assembly segments spread over three districts of Srinagar, Anantnag and Shopian in the fourth phase of five-phased elections.

The concerned authorities have made unprecedented security arrangements for free, fair and peaceful polling in these constituencies.
According to reports, nearly 10 percent votes were cast till 10 a.m.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who is contesting from Sonawar constituency of Srinagar district, and three sitting ministers are among the 182 candidates in the fray in this phase.
